CRAIG NICHOLSON STEPS DOWN AS LADIES REP TEAM MANAGER
A presentation took place on Tuesday evening, 18th February to mark the long and successful tenure of Middlesex FA Ladies Representative Team Manager, Craig Nicholson, which came to a fitting conclusion last Tuesday evening. His team retained the Southern Counties Championship with a fine win against their old rivals, The Army Ladies.
We were aware that Craig was going, as he thoughtfully signified his intentions early in the season but we are naturally very sad to see him leave. However, we completely understood the reasons for his decision.
Craig has been our Manager for more than 14 years. His first match in charge was against The Army on 24th February, 2011 at North Greenford United FC which ended in a 2-2 draw.
Last Tuesday’s game was his 44th in charge, which beats the previous best of 38 by John Jones between 1998 and 2007. 23 of Craig’s games resulted in victories and 7 were drawn. Significantly, his side was defeated only once in its final 22 matches, of which 17 were won and 4 drawn. The Southern Counties Championship was won under his managership on 4 occasions, in seasons 2014-15, 2018-19, 2023-24 and 2024-25.
Craig recruited his players and fashioned them into a formidable squad, producing a style of play which was not only successful but also a pleasure to watch. It was obvious that his players bought into his ideas and enjoyed playing for him. Craig enjoyed the same loyalty from his long serving support team.
We are grateful to Craig for his outstanding contribution to Middlesex women’s football and wish him well for the future. He has not only made history but left the side in very good shape for the future. Furthermore, he was a pleasure to work with.
