International Women’s Day: HE Festival with UCFB
After being postponed back in March due to bad weather conditions, on Wednesday 10 May Middlesex FA, in partnership with UCFB, delivered their first International Women’s Day HE Festival at Silver Jubilee Park.
Engaging with almost 40 university students on the day, the festival celebrated all the amazing work they do for women’s football within their institutions.
On the day, our Women’s Rec Officer Kate Wells ran a workshop, highlighting the various opportunities for students and their clubs to get involved with, as well as their exit routes as players from university into community football.
As part of the initiative of creating community links for local universities, Hendon FC used the festival to launch their first ever women’s football team, looking to expand the offering for females in the local Brent area.
A massive thank you to all those involved and Hendon FC for hosting us, and a special shout out to UCFB Sports Coordinator, Jay Welsh for helping deliver the festival.
Lastly, congratulations to UCFB Team 2 for winning the tournament and Royal Holloway University for finishing 2nd place.
