A GOOD START FOR RAYNERS LANE IN THE PREMIER CUP
The first round of the Middlesex Premier Cup is now in progress and the roving team of Chris Benn (County photographer) and Jim Taylor (reporter) decided to cover the match at Green Lane between CB Hounslow United Reserves and Rayners Lane.
The visitors soon assumed control and made the match safe in the first half hour.
Hassan Al-Murtada made a run up the right and produced a low cross, which CB keeper. Lee Brompton stopped by his near post. Then, in the 14th minute, central striker, Dom Mosca broke through and was tackled by Oskar Prokop in the act of shooting. A corner resulted and Jamie Doolan headed this home unchallenged to put his side ahead.
Three minutes later, Dom Mosca ran through and scored a well taken goal to double Rayners Lane’s lead.
Kam’ron Lawrence scored their third goal in the 23rd minute after receiving a defence splitting pass from player manager, Warren Gladdy.
In the 30th minute, Dom Mosca hit the 4th Rayners Lane goal from Hassan Al-Murtada’s cross.
As the interval approached, CB keeper, Lee Brompton, saved twice from Hassan. Firstly, he easily anticipated a free kick taken from around 25 yards and then he made a more difficult stop with his feet.
Half time score: CB Hounslow United Reserves 0 Rayners Lane 4
CB had much more of the game in the second half. However, play became very ragged and players from both sides became far less disciplined than previously.
In the 65th minute, Dom Mosca completed his hattrick, demonstrating good control before slotting home his side’s 5th goal.
Four minutes later, Ade Owalana capitalised on a defensive error to pull a goal back for CB.
CB made further chances. Alfie Saunders lofted a dangerous ball into the box but Adam Knight couldn’t make clean contact. Jon Lloyd cut in but the Rayners Lane custodian saved with his feet at the expense of a corner. The home side continued to press during the rather messy later stages of the game but could not penetrate the visitors’ defence again.
Rayners Lane defender, Kam’ron Lawrence limped off in 84th minute, leaving his side short, until his return 5 minutes later.
CB were reduced to 10 players in the 85th minute, when Alfie Saunders was dismissed following his receipt of a second yellow card. They were almost immediately reduced to 9, when Mark Peters was sent to the sin bin.
Rayners Lane defender, Rob Magwood was dismissed in the 89th minute for denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity. He was joined within a minute by team mate, Teddy Jones, who had collected a second yellow card.
