The First Cup Final Pass is Punched
Chris Benn turned his attention to the first semi final of the Senior Challenge Cup, between Ashford Town (Middlesex) and Hanwell Town. Ashford Town had to use Spelthorne Sports Club’s facilities due to vandalization at their home ground. They had reached this stage of the competition by defeating CB Hounslow in the quarter final, also played at Spelthorne. Hanwell Town had recorded a 4-0 home victory over Hanworth Villa, in their quarter final.
The visitors were marginally the better team in the first half and lead at the interval through a goal by Gianni Crichlow, who finished a good run by Ogochukwu Obi.
Ashford were reduced to 10 players in the 60th minute, when Sam Humphreys was dismissed after receiving a second caution. However, despite having several good opportunities, Hanwell did not add to their lead until the 86th minute, when Harry Rush was set up by Trevan Robinson.
Final score 0-2
