Representative Football

Represent your County

Representative football in Middlesex has a long and rich history.

It’s an important part of football in the County and it’s no small honour to be called up to play.

World-Cup winner, Jimmy Greaves and former England captains Ray Wilkins and David Beckham have all wore the red and blue of Middlesex during their careers.

Essentially, a representative team is made up of the best grassroots players in the county. It acts as a chance for footballers who are not under professional contracts to test themselves against players from other counties and showcase their skills on a national stage.

Here at the Middlesex FA, we have traditionally run four representative teams: Ladies, Mens, Under 18 boys and Under 16 boys. Each team competed in an inter-county competition and play a number of fixtures across the course of the season.

The Under 18 boys team have competed in the prestigious FA County Youth Cup and have won the competition on five previous occasions, the last coming in the 2016/17 season.

Since the recovery from Covid, it is the Women’s Rep team that leads the charge in representing the county and play in the Southern Counties Cup Competition. In 2023/24, Middlesex were successful in winning this cup against the likes of Kent FA, Essex FA, Jersey FA and Army FA – a report of the final match can be found here.
