- What are the fundamentals in planning for seasonal and Long Term Player Development?
- How do you identify and decide what the priorities are in a club/academy coaching programme?
- In what ways can I help support individuals within the wider group context?
- Who else can support me in doing so?
What can coaches expect to take away?
- Some thinking and planning considerations to support coaches in planning a structured programme both with in and across phases.
- Consideration and suggestion on how to cater for players are stand outs amongst the group
Overview of the event:
Tony Carr is one of the most influential coaches of all time. Having achieved his boyhood dream of signing with West Ham United in 1966 and training alongside the inimitable Bobby Moore, a leg break forced Carr to end his playing career before it had even begun. Not to be deterred, he decided to forge himself a new path and was appointed director of youth football at West Ham in 1973, aged just 23.
In this live discussion in partnership with The Coaches Network Podcast, we will explore the insights from over 4 decades of youth development with West Ham United and the challenges that can arise along the way in developing an effective youth development programme including the following:
- Developing a seasonal programme of training
- Supporting individuals in the wider group context
- How to keep things fresh and engaging over time
We will explore these areas through an interview style discussion followed by an opportunity for Q+A with our host and special guest Tony Carr in order to give you some food for thought to support you throughout the season, with some hints, tips and ideas for you to take away and try out with your own players.
